About Vitmar Restoration — Historic Carpentry Specialists, Washington DC

VITMAR Restoration is a specialty service of VITMAR, LLC, a full-service carpentry and contracting company. We've been working on homes, businesses, and diplomatic buildings in DC's historic neighborhoods for over two decades.

From restoring original double-hung sash windows to replicating obsolete trim profiles, historic work requires a non-standard toolkit and a specialized approach to problem-solving. We launched VITMAR Restoration to provide that dedicated expertise.

Our founder, Witold Golab, studied carpentry in his native Poland and honed his craft through an apprenticeship in Germany. Prior to immigrating to the United States, he ran a construction and carpentry business in London.

He brought his old world background — traditional joinery, deep material knowledge, an emphasis on craft over convenience — to Washington DC where he discovered these skills were in demand.
